Nepal has issued a new stamp to honor late Dr. Harka Gurung. The stamp features a smiling picture of Dr. Gurung with Mt. Harka Chuli (7871m), a peak named after him in the background. It is a tribute to Dr. Gurung for his remarkable contributions in the fields of geography, planning, demography, tourism, art, history, and many others. His legacy lives on and continues to inspire us.

It is interesting to mention here that when Dr. Gurung was a teenager, he participated in a Nepalwide art competition, and had two of his paintings of birds issued as postage stamps in 1956.
